Roller blind types for coastal homes
Three fabric types, each specified for your aspect and heat load. Any of them can be motorised.
Sheer / sheerweave rollers
Soft daylight with daytime privacy, useful for sea-facing living rooms where you want glare control without darkening the space. Openness factor chosen for your aspect and heat load.
Light-filtering (translucent) rollers
Diffused light and everyday privacy for living rooms, kitchens and workspaces. A balanced option when full blackout isn’t needed but coastal sun still needs softening.
Blackout rollers
Near-full light block for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, so early Ballito sun doesn’t run the morning. Specced with side-light and fabric choice in mind, not just the label “blackout.”
Motorised rollers
Motorised roller blinds suit hard-to-reach windows and larger stacks, with remote or compatible smart-home control. See our motorised blinds.
Why roller blinds suit Ballito coastal homes
Specified for the coast, measured and fitted by our own team.
Coastal specification
Salt air, bright ocean light and humid summers ask more of a fabric and a bottom bar than an inland showroom sample. We specify rollers for UV, humidity and how the room is actually used, then custom-make and professionally install them from our Ballito showroom.
Control and fit
Manual chain or motorised control. Recess or face fix. Pelmets and child-safety where needed.

Questions, answered
Can roller blinds be motorised?
Yes. Motorised roller blinds suit hard-to-reach windows and larger stacks, with remote or compatible smart-home control. We’ll recommend a motor and control that fit your windows and quote it clearly.
What roller blinds work best in coastal Ballito homes?
It depends on the room. Sheerweave and light-filtering rollers suit bright living spaces; blackout rollers suit bedrooms. We choose fabrics and hardware with salt air, UV and humidity in mind, and advise on site.
How long does roller blind installation take in Ballito?
Most orders are custom-made and installed within 9 to 12 working days. We’ll confirm the timeline up front on your written quote.
Do you measure and fit the blinds yourselves?
Yes. We measure, custom-make and install every blind with our own team, so the fit is our responsibility from start to finish.
How do I get a roller blinds quote?
Book a free Dolphin Coast consult or start at our quote page. We’ll recommend fabric, openness and control, then give you a clear written quote. No prices are published on-page; every job is quoted to your windows.
